My Shopping Deals

I asked you guys if you wanted to see what I got when I went shopping last week and you said yes so here it is.  The deals were amazing and I bet they are still going on since everyone is trying to get rid of their Winter items and move in Spring.
My first stop was at H&M where I got this leopard print scarf.  It's really light weight and it was only $6.95!  That wasn't on sale either.

Then I headed over to Rue 21 where I got the best deal of the day.  I bought this sweater on clearance for $3!  Come Spring time I will still be able to wear it because of the color and it's not heavy knit.

Here's me wearing it and the knit up close.  I actually bought this in an Extra Large because I wanted it to come down past my bum when I wear jeggings.  It has a silver, sparkly thread through out it.

Next stop was Wet Seal.  Now, it took all of my will power not to buy one of everything in the store because it was 40% off of everything except clearance.  I bought this scarf and leopard print sandals.  So the scarf was originally $9.90 and the sandals were $6.90.  After the 40% off I got them both for $10.08 (plus tax).

Finally I made it to Forever 21.  Usually I don't find a lot of clothes because their set up makes my OCD brain have a fit but this time I made out with a really good find.  Another sweater!  This one is a heavy knit in an indigo blue.  I think this color is really flattering on brunettes.  I got it for $9!

Below is a picture of me wearing it and an up close shot of the knit.  It's extremely soft and so comfortable.

Like I have said before I am cheap and I love a good deal.  Don't get me wrong, I will splurge on some things like a pair of shoes or a purse but it's always rewarding to walk out with a ton of shopping bags and have hardly spent any money.  Go out there and find some deals.  I hope you like this kind of post.  I am thinking about doing them when I buy new products like makeup, skin care and hair care.  Happy shopping everyone!

DIY Boot Stuffers

When I first started this project I thought it was going really well until I finished my "test" boot stuffer and realized it wasn't going to work.  The fact that I was in the middle of a project and just had finished another project (my filing cabinet) that sent me over the edge I wasn't really in the mood to go back out to the store and try to re figure my project so I "winged" it.
You have probably seen the boot stuffers made out of pool noodles.  Well I took that same idea but where I live the pool noodles are not available in the middle of winter.  I bought foam pipe covering and decided to cover it in fabric.  After I made my "test" model I put it in one of my boots and found that it wasn't wide or thick enough.  It stood up and I cut them long enough but it didn't fill the boot.  How did I fix it?  I rolled up old magazines up and wrapped the foam covering around it and then covered them with fabric.  So, let me show you how this whole project went down.

How to:

1.  Cut your foam tubing to your desired length.  I cut mine all a foot long.

2.  Measure your fabric 1 1/2 inches longer than your tubing and 3 times the width.

3.  After cutting your fabric hot glue one end and the long side with the fabric folded pattern sides together, leaving your top open.   (fold it hot dog bun style...yes I just reverted back to kindergarten).

4.  Place your tubing in your fabric and then glue the top.

5.  Place your boot stuffers in your boots and enjoy the glory of perfect standing boots!

I love them!  All my boots stand up and it made more room in my closet...for more shoes maybe?  Yikes!

DIY Filing Cabinet Revamp

Recently I redecorated my office.  Well, actually I should say I decorated it and when all was said and done my filing cabinet looked...out of place.  It was an eye sore to be honest so I decided to paint it and change the handles on it.  Simple solution to my problem right?  I already had the paint I just had to buy the handles which I got at The Home Depot for $5.97 each.  My paint is the Behr Ultra in Antique Earth (which I also bought awhile back at The Home Depot).

Before

After

I had to drill new holes for my handles which has a little funny story.  When we first bought this filing cabinet we had to wood glue everything together even though it already came assembled.  We would pull the drawer out and the front would start to come off or the bars that hold the files up would fall out so we glued it.  Never since then have we had a problem with it coming apart.  As I was drilling the holes for the handles in the top drawer it all just came apart!  Literally fell apart!  It was like we had never glued it.  Luckily I was home by myself and I could have my moment of complete INSANITY and throw a fit.  I seriously lost my mind.  Thank goodness I am not on a reality t.v. show because I was not a happy camper.  Have you ever had one of those moments when something that little just sets you off?  Not to worry though I did manage to get it all put back together and let's just say it's not going to come apart again.  Just thought I would share.
It's amazing what a little paint and new hardware will do to make something fit in better.  Remember  next time you have something that just doesn't quite fit how much simple changes can really make something come alive again and save you a ton of money.

February Loves: Sally Hansen's Gel Manicure Kit

For a long time I would get my nails done at the salon.  Things changed and I had to cut that out of my budget so I got into painting my nails.  Now, they have at home gel manicure kits and I was lucky enough to get one recently.
The results are in and I LOVE it!  I love a perfect manicure.  Painting my nails a dark color is always a hit or miss whether it's going fade fast or not.  The dark colors are AMAZING and they don't fade.  They stay shiny and the edges don't wear down.  Because my nail beds are really oily I don't have to wrap my nails with the remover, cotton ball and tin foil.  I think it's worth the investment if you want have very well manicured nails and keep a color on for more than a week.

The price ($65) is a little more than a salon manicure but you get several manicures out of it.   You can buy the products individually so if you run out of one thing you don't have to buy an entire kit again.

In the picture above the manicure on the left is the color that my box came with and the color on the right is a dark purple.  One huge positive about the gel is that it dries instantly after it cures.  So, if you are looking at getting one I would recommend it.  Enjoy a great manicure!

February Loves: Mossimo Boyfriend T-shirts

I love to be comfortable, no matter the style that I am going for.  My Mossimo Boyfriend T-shirts are the #1 shirt I reach for.  You can dress them up or dress them down and they come in every color.  You can get them at Target for $8.  They rotate the colors with the seasons but they always have the basic black and white.  The v-neck isn't too deep so you are not showing everything God gave you and they stand up to constant washing.  Here's a link so if you want to buy them you can http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-supply-co-junior-s-boyfriend-v-tee-assorted-colors/-/A-15070558#prodSlot=large_1_18.  Below I put a couple of my own pictures up of what I have.  Go out and get yourself one.

February Loves

Normally I do one post with all of my favorite products from the month before but this month I am putting a little twist on it.  Because February is all about love I will share my loves through out the month.
So, to start this month's love list off I am beginning with a product that I have used for almost two months now and that is Aveeno's Ultra Calming makeup removing wipes.  I was using the Kirkland brand but they are no longer to be found and quite frankly I don't think I would go back after trying these.  I have extremely sensitive skin and these didn't break me out at all.  Not even the slightest.  I tried the Burt's Bees and the Simple (both for sensitive skin) and they made me break out.  These wipes do a great job removing my eye makeup, not stinging my eyes and calming my skin.  I use these before I wash my face and my skin doesn't get dry from using another product on my face.  To make things even better they are not expensive at all.  $6 -ish for a pack of 25.
If you are looking for a good makeup wipe I HIGHLY recommend them.
